Classic Movies

Old movies are something that is always fun to watch with friends or family. It is fun to enjoy some classic and original cinema that has withstood the test of time. These movies started it all and it’s respectful to pay homage to these stepping-stones. But in my opinion that is all that they are: stepping-stones. It may just be that I am more into today’s modern films but those classic movies just bore me to tears.

In my opinion remakes can be much better than some classics and in other cases remakes can be pretty bad. I think that the older Italian Job movie is so boring that I could barely watch it. On the other hand I think that the new Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is just flat out weird. I do enjoy watching classic movies though and I think that people should do it to see how far movies have come. It’s not that the new movies are better; I just think they are more entertaining.

Celebrities Are Just People

I am sure that everyone has heard of the unfaithful behavior of Tiger Woods. We all know how he cheated on his wife with many women. Many people have changed their opinions of the golf superstar. But I doubt that everyone has heard the massive earthquake that hit Haiti. And even if you have I seriously doubt that you heard as much about it or with such urgency as you heard about Tiger’s affairs. That is where our culture is right now. That one man’s sexual activities get more attention than the loss of people’s homes and lives.

In our culture we love our athletes and actors and singers. We love them so much that we worship them. By doing this we hold them at higher standards then we do other common folks. And when one celebrity does something wrong it surprises us so much that it’s all we can talk.

It’s our fault for expecting so much of our celebrities. We expect them to be better people than us because they are good at sports or singing or acting. We forget that they are just normal people. So instead of expecting so much from celebrities I think we should start expecting more of ourselves and start with paying more attention to more important things.

Working Those Abs

Often, I hear people talk about how they do not like to workout day after day after day. They say that they get super sore and the “delayed muscle soreness” makes it OK to hold off for a day and not work out. Well, when you stop working out for awhile you lose all that progress and you end up starting back at the beginning. There are some positive and easy solutions to this situation.

One of the simplest solutions is to schedule the workouts for different areas of the body. One of the best things to work out are the abs and one great thing about working the abs is that you don’t have to do it every single day to get great results. If you work those abs three times a week you will be good to go but you need to work them correctly. Yes, you will get sore but you will definitely make progress even through the soreness.

So, with that in mind, consider a daily workout program that alternates and gives you different workouts each day for the different parts of your body; quadriceps, shoulders, arms, glutes, etc. This along with a couple of good cardio workouts and a sensible diet is a great way to lose weight and build strength.

Is Facebook Changing the Way People Communicate? You bet it is!

I recently realized just how valuable Facebook is. I always thought that it is just another way to communicate with your immediate family and friends. In my opinion, it was just an alternative to calling them on the phone, texting them, or emailing them but can be used for so much more than that. It hit me when I received an invitation to a party on Facebook. Normally it would not have bothered me but for some reason this one did. It got me thinking about how, with the use of Facebook and other online network websites, we would never have to use the US Post mail for invitations. The fact that the post office is having so many financial problems today would have been unheard of just 10 to 15 years ago. It’s not so crazy to think with networks like Facebook that even email may one day not be needed anymore.

After all I already use Facebook to reconnect with old college and high school friends that I have lost touch with over the years; keep in contact with my parents and siblings and; also use for some of my closest business relationships. My wife has several hobbies she follows and gets tips and tricks with on Facebook so I can see a time when we are relying must more on these types of services.
