Suffering Your Siblings

Posted under Opinion by Fenton on Thursday 25 February 2010 at 4:18 am

Dealing with your siblings can be hard. I know this is for a fact but it is something that you just have to endure when you’re a kid. If you want to have a good relationship with your brothers and sisters when you are all older than you should seriously consider my advice and be patient. It will make family life much more pleasant and you will grow up to hopefully have great relationships with them and their families.

On the other hand, if you are always mean to your brother or sister than they just might hate you when they’re older. Even if they don’t openly show their hate for you, they will still be very easily annoyed with you and you brought it on yourself. They may even refuse to communicate with you all together and I’m sure you don’t want that.

Most people want a close and loving bond with their siblings, as they get older. I know I sure did. But if you treat them like crap all the time, your brothers or sisters will remember it and resent you for it and I have seen that in other families as well. It’s something that nobody wants and is best avoided. Good advice, if heeded.

Harry Potter and the Curse of High School Drama

I talked to a lot of people who loved the newest Harry Potter movie. They said it lets you really see how the characters relate to each other in everyday life. Well when I saw the movie, I was not impressed. I was hoping for something with a little bit more action. Instead, what I got was a very long episode of something like a high school drama TV show.

The movie had no real meat. It was just a lot of side stories about teenage angst and such. Very boring. And the little story development that occurred went mostly unexplained, which was a little annoying. The movie didn’t even explain what the half-blood prince means. It just shows who it is. This doesn’t mean anything since it’s the movies namesake and it goes totally unexplained.

I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy the movie at all because there were parts that was pretty entertaining but I thought it could have been much better.  I really wish it had shown more story development and had been more than a high school television sitcom.

It Doesn’t Matter How Much You Like It, Coke is Bad For You

Posted under Opinion by Fenton on Tuesday 9 February 2010 at 2:29 am

I know that everyone loves coke. And as the very funny comedian Lewis Black says “I’m sure we have all had enough Coke and Pepsi that we piss it for a week.” I just want to point out how terrible it really is. Just one of those things is the fact that one of the ingredients is still cocaine.

Also, I do not know if every one is aware of this but an experiment was done in which a nail was put into a can of coke and the next morning the nail was completely gone. I’m not sure what did it in, but regardless, the nail was completely disintegrated by what we call a refreshing beverage. Are you sure you want to put that inside of your body. It has also been proven that the reason you feel so good after drinking a coke is that it stimulates the same parts of your body that heroin and opium stimulate. That’s why you can’t help but smile after drinking a coke. It’s not because you really feel more energized. It’s because you just got your fix for an hour or so. Another thing to note is that if coke can totally disintegrate a nail, what do you think it is doing to your teeth? I can tell you it’s not good; just like everything else except the taste and high from a Coca Cola.

Live Fruit Bowl

One of my favorite images in fine art is the still life fruit bowl. It’s colorful and attractive. It is an excellent academic exercise and great practice for the budding artist. The image is very pleasing to the human eye. While I am not much of a painter, I do appreciate beauty in art and nature. My way to create a masterpiece is to fill a pretty bowl of real fruit and keep it on the dining room table. It is visually stimulating and it also keeps my family eating healthy snacks.

The first thing I do is to select a showy vessel or container that is large enough to hold plenty of fruit. Variety of color and texture is important for the art piece. Variety of fruit is important for the diet. The container should be large enough to hold about eight pounds of fresh fruit. When the fruit becomes room temperature, another dimension of the art piece comes alive because the aroma of the fruit is very enticing to hungry family members. Our noses are tickled and our taste buds are satisfied. When the fruit is all eaten and the art piece is not attractive, it’s time to start over again with more fruit. Keeping a fruit bowl is a great way to stay happy and healthy in the winter.
